David Phillips

David graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering, 1982 and later in his career completed the Advanced Management Program at Duke University, 2001. His career began in the electric utility industry with Florida Power & Light, where he worked through the ranks from field engineering to Manager of Distribution Engineering & Services for the company. He was recruited to Carolina Power & Light in 1998 as General Manager of the Southern Region, headquartered in Florence SC. In 2001 he moved to Asheville, NC as the Western Region Vice President, in the transition of CP&L becoming Progress Energy. In 2004 he moved back to Florida to assume the role of Vice President of the South Coastal Region with the acquisition of Florida Power headquartered in St. Petersburg. In 2006 David and his wife Judy decided to make a family and career move returning to Asheville, NC to raise their two daughters. Here, David started Taylor-Lynn Management, a business consulting firm, and Pike Real Estate Development, as a General Contractor focusing on residential development and construction as well as some commercial and industrial projects. David has served on many boards over the years, including Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Camp Cedar Cliff, ProMATIC Automation Corporation, Western Carolina Rescue Mission, Buncombe County Economic Development, UNCA, Sisters of Mercy of NC Foundation, Daniel Boone Council Boy Scouts, and many others. David is really enjoying the opportunity to be a part of RYSE Construction’s phenomenal growth in WNC, assisting Ethan and Katherine Young is preserving the faith, character, and values that the company was founded on.
